How to buy the right cylinder?
The main criterion for selecting the cylinder type should be the required safety or resistance to breaking.
The required level of security is determined either by the specific requirements of the insurance company stated in the insurance contract for the property, or it should correspond with the value of the property estimated by the customer considering the accessibility to the compound where the property is locked. By “accessibility to the compound” is meant the accessibility for a potential intruder. It is necessary to consider whether there are possible points of entries in places where the attempts of breaking in would be easy to notice, or whether these are remote places where the intruder would not be seen or attract attention by noise or suspicious behaviour. It is also recommended to think about resources that can be available to the intruder immediately on the spot.
The producer or seller is obliged to provide you with information on the level of security or, if you like, resistance to breaking as stipulated in relevant standards or certified methods. Such obligation is usually met by providing the information on the goods packaging or in the package leaflet.

Our cylinders from the PRO product range are highly resistant to environmental effects, such as dust and freezing temperatures, since the moving parts are controlled directly by the key, and corrosion, thanks to the used materials.
In rival cylinders with indirect control of the moving parts, e.g. pins controlled by springs, it is necessary to defrost the ice crust inside the cylinder first in order to renew the operation of the moving parts and the cylinder functionality.
However, a frozen PRO cylinder can start working immediately without applying any defrosting agents. Even though the humidity pervades the inside of the cylinder and it freezes, the ice crust is broken as soon as the key is used because all moving elements are controlled directly by the key. The functionality of PRO cylinders is similarly guaranteed in a dusty environment. They also cope well with a certain amount of grease inside while in other cylinders this makes the mechanism clog putting it out of service.
Choosing the cylinder size according to the door thickness .
It is vitally important to choose the correct cylinder dimension so that the cylinder neither protrudes from the door hardware nor does it sink in too much. If the cylinder size is inappropriate, the cylinder cannot provide its declared security.

How to choose the right padlock?
The main factor in choosing a padlock should be the level of required security or resistance to breaking, alternatively other specific requirements on the locking system (for more information see “How to choose the right cylinder”).
Selecting the padlock size is closely related to the padlock security even though it cannot be said that a bigger padlock means more security.
In any case, when choosing a padlock it is necessary to take account of dimensions of the hasp or the bar that will be used together with the padlock for locking since they have to allow for an easy manipulation with the padlock. Too much clearance between the padlock shackle and the hasp loop is not recommended as it allows for inserting a crowbar (jemmy) in between.
Our GAMA 50 OS and GAMA 50 CS padlocks are certified for the security class 3 according to CSN EN 12 320 and the security class 3 according to CSN P ENV 1627, and rank among products of a medium-high level of security and the resistance class 3+. The Extreme PRO padlock is certified for the security class 3 according to CSN NE 12 320 and the security class 3 according to CNS P ENV 1627 and ranks among products of a medium-high level of security and the resistance class 3. It resists to occasional breaking attempts in medium frequented areas where such attempts can draw attention by caused noise and where it is impossible to use e.g. electric power supply unnoticed.
In comparison to padlocks without so called overlapping or covered shackles, padlocks with covered shackles (CS) obviously provide more security against breaking the shackle, however, they might not always fit the hasp as for the size.
The Extreme PRO padlock is supplied as a set with several types of bars that provide an ideal combination of the lock set padlock - bar, for enhanced resistance to breaking.
A padlock is not the only safety aspect that prevents breaking of the entrance panelling. The other elements should demonstrate adequate security too, which needs to be particularly considered when selecting hasps and bars.
How to find out information about product security or resistance to breaking or an attack?
Information on the level of security or, if you like, resistance to destructive methods of breaking and information on security regarding the key are usually provided with the goods either on the packaging or in the package leaflet, alternatively it can be provided by the producer or seller.
If there is no information about the level of security enclosed with the goods, it can be assumed that the product demonstrates no verifiable security and can be used only in places where the customer does not require any specific resistance to breaking. There are no security or resistance requirements regarding the destructive methods of breaking in the security class 0 according to CSN EN 1303 and the security class 1 according to CSN EN 1627.
Verified security or resistance to breaking (attack) of a cylinder or a padlock and security related to the key are most often proven by a certificate awarded by an accredited testing laboratory. Certificates of security against destructive methods of breaking are awarded according to CSN EN 1303 and CSN EN 1627 for cylinders, and according to CSN EN 12 320 and CSN EN 1627 for padlocks. Certificates that individually verify security related to the key are issued only for cylinders, and that is according to CSN EN 1303. Certificates issued for padlocks according to CSN EN 12 320 or padlocks and cylinders according to CSN EN 1627 also take into consideration security regarding the key but within the overall security class given.
Information about issued certificates is usually also indicated on the packaging or in the package leaflets.
Safety against breaking using non-destructive methods without a key cannot be currently certified with the exception of the resistance to the bumping method that can be tried out or assessed at an accredited testing laboratory according to the certification procedure of the National Security Authority.

How to understand security certificates and marking on goods?
Considering that many products have certificates in compliance with various standards and one product can very often have more certificates, we have introduced our own scale of resistance classes to make the understanding of product security easier. The scale is similar to those of our competitors so as to make the choice from products on the market easier. In layman’s terms, the resistance to breaking is ranked from 1 to 4. The higher the number, the higher the security.

How can a cylinder be broken?
Cylinders can be broken by:
1) Non destructive methods
2) Destructive methods
ad 1) Non-destructive methods are:
Breaking using an identical or similar key
Breaking without using a key, e.g.:
- Dynamic methods, e.g. bumping
Non-destructive methods can be very dangerous. They require certain equipment and some of them also some skill but once the method is mastered the intruder is able to break a locked cylinder within a very short period of time (seconds) without any conspicuous noise or any other obvious behaviour. Another disadvantage is that these methods might not leave any detectable traces on the broken locking systems and if necessary (e. g. for insurance benefit), breaking cannot be often proved.
Responsible producers nowadays do not underestimate the possible danger of unlocking a cylinder with the same key of a different owner, or with the next similar key of the system. This type of breaking can be successfully avoided by using systems with a sufficient number of locking combinations and minimizing the risk of unlocking the cylinder with a similar key thanks to construction or manufacturing measures. The fact that a manufacturer cares about the cylinder security regarding the key can be demonstrated by certificates for the relevant security classes related to the key according to CSN EN 1303.

The Tokoz PRO 300 and Tokoz PRO 400 cylinders are certified for the highest security class related to key 6 according to CSN EN 1303.
The principle of a lock system that is based on a set of narrow axially and freely laid rotary discs does not enable these methods of breaking at all and therefore we can talk about 100% resistance to these methods.
Bumping – a dynamic method used for unlocking so called “pin” cylinders when an especially adjusted bump key is inserted into a cylinder and after hitting the key with e. g. a rubber hammer, the sprung pins jump to the “open” position - more on our video here http://tokozpro.cz/en/tokoz-pro-system/methods-of-breaking/.
Destructive methods of breaking cylinders are methods when one or more parts of the cylinder are physically damaged.
During certification testing our Tokoz PRO 300 and Tokoz PRO 400 cylinders have shown higher resistance to:
Drilling – the resistance is based on chosen materials resistant to drilling and on using other hardened elements in places typical for breaking
Cutting/Chopping – the resistance is based on chosen materials resistant to cutting and on using sensitive parts of the cylinder mechanism so that after installation they are hidden in the solid wood of the door behind the hardware
Wrenching the cylinder core – the resistance is based on the cylinder design– the cylinder does not have a single-casing core, therefore, it is not possible to fasten there the tools necessary for wrenching
Twisting off the cylinder core – the resistance is based on complying with the prescribed overlapping of the cylinder front over the front area of the hardware – it is not possible to fit there the tools necessary for twisting it off
How can a padlock be broken?
Padlocks can be broken in several possible places:
Locking systems can be handled practically in the same way as cylinders. It is described hereinbefore.
All our PRO padlocks are fitted with the PRO locking system from which they gain all the advantages against non-destructive and destructive breaking.
All padlock bodies can be broken using different destructive methods.
During the certification testing our PRO padlocks showed increased resistance to drilling, sawing and cutting of the body and also to an impact at low temperature. This has been achieved thanks to chosen materials and suitable design solution.
PRO padlock shackles are proportioned to demonstrate higher resistance to drilling, sawing, cutting and snipping.
The PRO padlocks have also shown a higher resistance to wrenching and shackle twist-off thanks to their design qualities.

I have bought one of your cylinders and sometimes when turning the key I don’t know when to take the key out. What is wrong
When locking and unlocking locks with the PRO system cylinders, it is necessary to turn the key by more than the usual 360 ̊, and that is by an extra quarter (450 ̊).
However, the key can be taken out only when it is in a vertical position. Therefore, after turning it by the extra quarter and before taking it out, it is necessary to turn the key back to the vertical position, i. e. usually by a quarter-turn back.
Handling the key depends on the applied locking system that is made of rotary discs.
This system enables us to offer our customers cylinders with high level of security that are rare on the market especially with regards to the resistance to non destructive methods.
Practical experience has shown us that even though the manipulation with the key might feel somewhat strange at first, it is only a matter of time and habit before every customer is able to handle the cylinder automatically and without any problems.
If you can still not find the right position for taking out the key after turning it, take your time in making a few dummy turns with the key (so that the consequent locking elements of the mortise lock remain in the same position) placing it in both vertical positions that are possible and try taking the key out in each vertical position. Pay extra attention to making the dummy turns when handling the key. When taking the key out of a locked lock, it is helpful to turn it all the way to the “locked” position and then turn it back to the vertical position, again usually by a quarter-turn.
In any case, do not use any extra force to take the key out and bear in mind that the key can be pulled out only in the vertical position!
If you find it helpful, use the manual provided with the product to practise the correct handling. Relying on your common sense will be certainly effective too.
The look of the key puts me off. It seems too simple and thin. I am afraid it will break and that everyone can make it at h
Based on the tests and the awarded certificate of security regarding the key according to CSN EN 1303 that also allows for breaking the key, we can guarantee you that the usual everyday usage of the key will not cause its damaging or breaking in the lock. All dimensions and key material have been carefully design so that the key meets all certification requirements as well as everyday, though a bit difficult, manipulation (see unlocking frozen cylinders).
There is no need to worry about an easy way to forge the key either. Only to falsify the key means copying several safety elements, which are included in the shape of the key. Without knowing the specific coding elements that are assigned to the key and correspond with the code in the cylinder, it is impossible to make a copy. The specific coding elements cannot be read, observed or otherwise obtained.
In other words – to make a copy, the intruder would have to use the original key matching the cylinder for which he intends to use the copy, which is your key.
If you protect your original keys from being stolen or used inappropriately you will protect yourselves from having them copied at least as much as in case of the keys from other manufacturers.
Moreover, our keys are protected with a safety card that ensures that a potential intruder cannot abuse a professional key making service to create a key copy. Unless being one of our business partners, the key-maker is not entitled to make a copy of the key as the key profile is patent protected and its unauthorised forging means breaking our rights. All of our legitimate business partners engaged in the key-making services will require the safety card and for higher security also the original key in order to make a copy.
Keep the safety card well saved too.
How to order more cylinders or padlocks that can be opened with one key?
Make sure you know what system you need before finalizing your order.
Using the same key to open several security mechanisms that can vary in type (cylinders, padlocks, etc.) is called “Keyed Alike System”.
If you wish to have the possibility of unlocking several security mechanisms so that at least some of them will be possible to open with a minimum of two different keys, then you need the so called “General Master Keyed System”.
If you need a general master keyed system where all “subordinate” security systems can be opened with one key, then you need the so called “Master Keyed System”.

What type of hasp would you recommend to use with the PRO padlocks?
All padlocks from the GAMA range and the Extreme PRO padlock can be combined with many hasps, or bars, that are currently on the market.

Yes, it is possible to order keys from our partners – they are listed on http://tokozpro.cz/en/outlets/ . It is necessary to bring the safety card with the code and one original key to prevent making forged keys.
I would like to buy spare keys for my lock. Where can I buy it?
You need to follow the same procedure as if you have lost the key. You need to go to one of our partners’ shops and bring the safety card and the original key with you. The outlets are listed on http://tokozpro.cz/en/outlets/ .
I have lost my key from the cylinder/padlock and I do not have the safety card. Can I have a spare key made?
Unfortunately, spare keys cannot be made without the safety card. Do not worry though as it does not mean that you have to buy a new cylinder or padlock. Using professional equipment our products can be easily realigned to a different locking code. All you need is to take them to one of our partners’ outlet with the remaining keys. The list of our partner outlets can be found on http://tokozpro.cz/en/outlets/ . Our partner will reorder the product and provide you with new keys and safety card. There will be some cost but it will be definitely cheaper than purchasing a new cylinder.
Is it possible to order a new cylinder or padlock for an existing key that I already have?

What is the procedure when I want to make a complaint?
Complaints have to be made in the shop where the product was bought. It is necessary to enclose the faulty product and receipt and to write a complaint report with the shop assistant indicating the type of fault.
I have bought your PRO 300 cylinder and it sometimes jams. Can it get jammed or otherwise damaged?
The mechanism parts are made by pressing metal sheets. Tiny unevenness or sharper edges can cause some grinding for some time as you describe it. By using it, the mechanism becomes slightly “worn out” and starts working properly. This makes it different from many rival products that on the contrary wear down quickly until the lock jams or it is impossible to operate it with a worn down key. Tests have proved resistance to wear and tear in the TOKOZ PRO mechanisms.
Alternatively, we recommend putting a few drops of the WD 40 lubricant in the cylinder or lock, which will improve the product performance.
